Winter Spearfishing and Diving out of Destin FL

Maybe the water is too cold for you (and me) and only the dedicated divers dare to venture out in temperatures hovering  in the fifties.  The fact is some of the best diving can be enjoyed during the winter season here in Florida, particularly the Northwest coast here in the Panhandle. Time to Fish

If you aren’t taking advantage of the incredible fall weather you are truly missing out.   Lots of Spear O’s out these last couple of weekends with some fine catches of Red Snapper and more.  Get out before season grinds to a halt November 22.  40-50′ of visibility in 100′ of water last weekend.

Spearfishing Destin

Out off of Destin on Sunday about 3-4 miles out and Red Snapper everywhere.  Had our limit in 5 minutes.  Water visibility was about 30-40 feet in 75 feet of water.  No oil anywhere that we saw.   Water is fine and spearfishing is great! Scuba diving is even better.

What oil?

Obviously everyone is distraught concerning the Deep water Horizon oil catastrophe.  The media is doing an excellent job scaring everyone away from the beaches of the Emerald coast.  The beaches are OPEN and so is the fishing here out of Destin.  We are still diving and catching lots of fish.
